2025 Art at the Source: My First Open Studio Event in Sonoma County!
In June, I opened my home studio for the very first time as part as a member of Art at the Source, an Open Studios event here in Sonoma County. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking. Living in a retirement community, I’ll admit I worried that serious collectors might not see our artists as “serious” professionals.
Those concerns quickly faded. While the weekend foot traffic was on the quieter side, the quality of the visitors — and the conversations — were exceptional. Sales far exceeded my expectations, and I had the joy of sending 5 paintings off to new homes. Two potential collectors took pieces home to trial in their home and were thrilled - acquiring 3 in total. I am so grateful and appreciative.
This event also gave me the opportunity to welcome guests into my creative space — to see works in progress, ask questions, and experience the energy that fuels my paintings. I also served homemade family recipes of Toffee and Peanut brittle...
I’ve included a short video tour of the studio for those who couldn’t make it in person.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve now been juried into the fall Open Studios event — Sonoma County Art Trails — which takes place the weekends of October 11 & 18. I’ll again open my home studio, with new work on the walls, fresh canvases in process, and plenty of homemade delectables!
For me, these events are about more than sales. They’re about connecting — art lovers, collectors, neighbors and fellow creatives — and building relationships that continue long after the studio doors close.
